Objectives

This course is meant to be taken simultaneously with Math1 Equations course. In this course you receive support in your studies and rehearse the contents of Math1 Equations with guidance. During this course you further your knowledge of mathematical principles underlying engineering with regard to expressions and equations.

EUR-ACE: Knowledge and understanding
You have the knowledge and understanding of mathematics and other basic sciences underlying your engineering specialisation, at a level necessary to achieve the other programme learning outcomes.

After completing this course you have increased and strengthened your knowledge about the contents of Math1 Equations course.

Content

After completing this course, you will have strengthened and deepened your knowledge of the content of Mat1 Equations. You will be supported in your studies and will have guided practice in expressions and equations, which will contribute to your understanding of mathematical principles in engineering. The course will help you apply what you learn to solve practical problems and provide a solid foundation for further study. You will also gain confidence in computational routines and strengthen your mastery of calculation rules, expression manipulation and equation solving skills.

Time and location

Implementation at Dynamo building on the Lutakko campus during period 2.

The course has 80% compulsory to attend contact teaching. All absences from contact teaching must be compensated in the manner indicated at the beginning of the course.

Some weeks may include distance learning depending on the availability of Dynamo's classrooms.

Learning materials and recommended literature

Exercises and material available in the learning environment.

Teaching methods

Contact lessons, guided exercises 1,5 h/week.
This course is intended to be taken at the same time with Math1 Equations TZMV2100

Exam dates and retake possibilities

Schedule will be presented at the beginning of the course on Moodle.

Student workload

The estimated workload of the course is 1 credits * 27 h/cr = 27 h.

Contact lessons 12 h
Self studying 15 h

Content scheduling

Implementation at Dynamo building on the Lutakko campus during period 2.

Further information for students

Assessment is based on sets of exercises.

Evaluation scale

Pass/Fail

Evaluation criteria, pass/failed

You recognise algebraic principles regarding the manipulation of symbolic expressions and are able to apply them to simplify simple expressions and solve simple equations.
