Objectives
The object of the course
This course aims at highlighting the importance of entrepreneurship in sport business context. The course introduces the main concepts of entrepreneurship in relation to the unique features of sport business.
Some cases of sport innovations are introduced and discussed in terms of their importance in sport development. This course is part of the Sustainable sport business management module.
After completing this course, you have a deeper understanding of current topics in international sport entrepreneurship field. You gain insights into different areas of topical themes in sport entrepreneurship and innovations.
Course competences
Sport business management competence: You critically review and understand the core concepts of sport business management and gain knowledge and skills in sport management, sport marketing, entrepreneurship and finance.
Sustainable development competence: You promote the implementation of sustainability projects in your operations.
Proactive development competence: You develop the ability to think out of the box and challenge the limits to come up with creative and innovative solutions.
The learning objectives of the course
Upon completion of this course, you are able to review and understand the concepts of sport entrepreneurship and sport business. You understand the global professionalisation of sport towards entrepreneurial organisations. You can implement sustainability issues in your entrepreneurship implementation projects and provide innovative solutions to business problems in sport organisations.
Content
The course content consists of theories of sport entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial orientation, social entrepreneurship, CSR, innovation drivers, innovation regulations and artificial intelligence.

Spring semester, JAMK main campus.

Additional Material: Selected journal articles and case studies will be given at the beginning of the course.
Teaching methods
Course is a on-campus implementation. It combines face-to-face and distance learning methods where students participate in lectures, workshops and other study activities. On-campus studies are organized as intensive 3 day period.
Lectures, assignments, case studies, individual studies.
Remote possibility only upon request with a reason.
Practical training and working life connections
Guest lecturer from sport organisation and case studies.
Exam dates and retake possibilities
No exam.
International connections
A distinguished international guest lecturer will be invited.
Alternative completion methods
You have the right to apply for recognition of your studies if you have prior learning (e.g. university studies completed elsewhere) that can be accredit-ed towards the degree you are currently completing.

You can apply some basic sport management concepts and produce sport entrepreneurship contents in practice in a guided situation. You can promote the implementation of sustainability projects in your operations in limited capacity. You are able to come up with some innovative solutions in your development project.
Satisfactory 2
You have some ability to analyze and evaluate academic and business information related to sport business. You can independently apply sport management concepts and produce sport entrepreneurship contents in practice in a given situation, but the approach is not supported with argumentation. You are able to come up with some creative and innovative solutions in your development project.

Good 3
You are able to evaluate relevant academic and business data and consider possible approaches and outcomes for sport business and sport entrepreneurship problems. You show analytical skills and logical thinking with justifications, and you can apply sport entrepreneurship concepts in your work. You are able to come up with some creative, innovative and sustainable solutions in your development project. You can critically evaluate your findings.
