Evaluation methods and criteria

The course will be assessed based on the assignments, using a pass/fail grading scale. No individual feedback will be given on the assignments. In the final evaluation, it will be checked that the assignments meet the given criteria. The criteria and further instructions are available in the learning environment. The course grade will be entered into Peppi no later than two weeks after the course ends. Prohibition of AI Use in Course Assignments The purpose of course assignments is to assess the student's individual learning and skills. Using AI-generated content compromises the integrity of this assessment and may constitute unethical conduct. Therefore, the use of AI tools in assignments is prohibited unless explicitly permitted by the instructor.

Content scheduling

This course consists of five chapters: • Introduction to Lean • Lean In Many Environments • The Five Principles of Lean • Lean and Six Sigma • A Few Words about Implementing Lean Course material will be available in itslearning 1.12.2025. The course must be completed not later that 31.5.2026. (Enrollment not later than 28.2.2026)

Objective

The aim of this course is to give the student an overview of Lean and how it contributes to companies and service functions in improving their cost effectiveness and creating a positive work atmosphere.

To be able to grasp the course contents in an optimal way the student is advised to spend approximately 45% of the time on repeatedly listening and reading the specific slide material, 10% of the time on the additional material (Youtube videos, articles) and 45% on the tasks, assignment and questions.
