Evaluation methods and criteria
A passed completion (2 ECTS) requires that all modules of the course unit have been completed satisfactorily. Some assignments are assessed using Moodle’s automated assessment tools, and some are assessed on a pass/fail scale. A pass grade is awarded when all course assignments have been completed satisfactorily and submitted before the specified dates.

Objective
The student understands the significance of constructive and appropriate feedback and assessment in supporting the learning process. The student understands the significance of teacher ergonomics and practices that support overall wellbeing in teachers’ work. The student is familiar with the competence requirements of working life for music educators and their significance for teachers’ professional development. The student understands the basic aspects of remuneration for music educators and their connections to the structures of working life.
Content
The course can be completed via the Open University of Applied Sciences by any musician, music pedagogue, upper secondary student, or music enthusiast interested in the subject. The course deepens thinking in instrumental pedagogy and provides perspectives on the core contents and practices of the instrumental teacher’s profession. Content: assessment and giving feedback, teacher ergonomics and wellbeing at work, competence requirements and remuneration in the working life of a music pedagogue.

Online course. Self-directed completion in Moodle. The course is open from 19 January 2026 to 19 December 2026.
