To pass the course the student must be able to • name elderly care professionals’ key tasks. • recognize the key prerequisites, responsibilities and requirements of blended learning studying.

The Moodle learning platform of the course is divided into six tabs with different themes, which are 1. WELCOME 2. THEME: IMAGE OF AGEING JA ELDERLY WORK 3. THEME: THE PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE OF GERONOMI 4. THEME: GERONOM'S TASKS AND FIELD OF WORK 5. THEME: MULTIMODAL STUDY IN METROPOLIA UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES 6. FEEDBACK The course is recommended to be completed one tab at a time, starting with the Welcome tab, which tells about the course in general, and ending with the course feedback tab. You can follow your progress on the Moodle progress bar on the right.
Objective
Students • can name elderly care professionals’ tasks. • can describe skills and knowledge of an elderly care professional. • can explain what blended learning in the Elderly Care Degree Programme of Metropolia UAS means.
Content
During this course, you will familiarize yourself with skills and knowledge of an elderly care professional, key study programme contents, professional tasks and blended learning studying in Metropolia’s Elderly Care Degree Programme. After completing the course, you can name the professional tasks of an elderly care worker, describe the skills and knowledge of an elderly care professional and explain what blended learning in the Elderly Care Programme of Metropolia UAS means. You don’t have to borrow or buy books to complete this study programme. All materials are available in Moodle learning platform. The course is assessed by ‘pass’ or ‘fail’. To pass the course, you have to complete all the tasks in the Moodle learning platform and pass all the exams at the end of the tabs. You can follow your progress on the Moodle progress bar on the right.
Location and time
1 January 2026 – 14 December 2026 An online course conducted on the Moodle learning platform. You will receive an automatic message upon registering to an email address ending in metropolia.fi. Therefore, please check your email regularly. There is no set time limit for completion, but all submissions to be assessed must be ready by 14 December 2026. Assessments will be carried out three times a year: 31 May, 31 August, and 19 December. If you require a marking earlier, please contact the course teacher. Further information is available on Moodle.
