Objective

The students deepen the knowledge of wines they have acquired previously, and master more advanced sensory evaluation of wines. They build a holistic picture of the world of wines. They are able to acquire, store, sell, and recommend wines when in charge of wines in a restaurant licensed to serve alcohol.

Content

Wine cultivation, production, and label symbols. The wines and strong alcoholic beverages of Europe and the New World. Sensory evaluation exercises. Recommending wines for different occasions.

Qualifications

The basics of the production of wines and other alcoholic beverages in different countries.
MMPR1130 Wine and Spirits, or equivalent knowledge

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Written exam and sensory evaluation test. Active participation. The students may also take a chargeable WSET Level 3 International Higher Certificate exam and receive a separate WSET certificate for its successful completion.
