Objective
The students are aware of the role of occupational therapy in the development tasks of youth, in the development of sexual identity, and in supporting the study opportunities of adolescents. The students understand the therapeutic partnership as a basement for the occupational therapy process with the young client. They are familiar with the main problems of young clients of occupational therapy, and can analyze and use meaninful occupational methods in their therapy process and assessment.
Content
Lectures and exercises related to the development tasks of youth, to the problems of young occupational therapy clients (e.g. mental health problems, eating disorders, drug problems, learning difficulties, mental disability), and to occupational and exercise-based methods used in the occupational therapy of young people. The students are also familiarised with the significance of multiprofessional work and the assessment of a young client of occupational therapy.
Qualifications
The students know the basic concepts and values of occupational therapy. They have created an idea of the work of occupational therapist, and also know the basics of psychology.
