Objective

Objectives:
• The student is able to compare the face-to face therapy process and remote therapy;
• The student is able to recognise, critically evaluate and utilise the different technological possibilities of remote therapy through the therapy processes;
• The student is able to evaluate and critically analyse clients’ needs in remote therapy;
• The student can discuss about ethical and cultural aspects of remote therapy.

Content

The course is targeted for students who currently work or will work in a social and health care context (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, health technology etc), using remote therapy processes and related working methods with clients and their families Part of the course will be completed individually, while some of the assignments are carried out in cooperation with other students. The course is divided into four (4) main themes on remote therapy. Students can complete the course assignments in any preferred order. In the last theme (5) students will provided their feedback on the course. The course workload is 5 ECTS, (1 ECTS Credit equals to 27 hours of student work). Course is completed through an Itslearning on-line platform. Course is carried out in English and assessed pass/fail.

• Compare face-to-face and remote therapy processes
• Recognise the advantages and disadvantages of remote therapy
• Familiarise with technical possibilities of remote therapy
• Formulate evidence based approach to remote technology
• Evaluate and analyse client’s perspectives to remote therapy
• Ethical and cultural considerations

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in social and health care.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Course is assessed as pass/fail basis.
Successful completion of the course includes active participation to webinars, completion of independent and group assignments, including on-going communication, and self-assessment.

Project partners include JAMK University of Applied Sciences, Turku University of Applied Sciences, Savonia University of Applied Sciences and Singapore Institute of Technology.
