Objective
The aim is that the student familiarizes him- or herself with the language and reaches a level where he or she can manage basic everyday and service situations. The student also learns about the culture. After completing the basic course: - the student is able to pronounce the language - the student is able to use the alphabet - the student is able to greet - the student is able to name the days of the week, seasons and months - the student is able to introduce him- or herself and ask common questions - the student is able to tell about a family - the student is able to use numbers - the student is able to communicate in easy service situations i.e. in a café or when travelling - the student is able to tell time and ask about it - the student is able to form simple sentences and questions - the student is able to give and ask for directions - the student is able to use the most common verbs - the student is able to describe using adjectives and colors - the student is able to tell about the weather - the student is able to tell about hobbies - the student is able to tell about ways of living - the student is able to use basic grammar structures - the student understands fairly easy texts - the student has familiarized him- or herself with the culture of the language and interesting places The target level of the course according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is A1.2.
Content
The course contains 9 parts: the introductory module and 8 chapters. Each part contains learning material: reading text, vocabulary, grammar, audio and video files, assignments, and information about customs and culture. The course includes practice of communication situations and vocabulary based on the objectives of skill level A1-A2. The grammatical structures considered are: - Cyrillic alphabet - intonation - naming convention (first names, patronymics and surnames) - greetings, getting acquainted and name - expression of opinion - simple telephone conversation situations - basic figures, days of the week, months - vocabulary, dialogues and reading texts. In addition to the material found in the learning environment, the course includes online meetings, which are recorded. The student must complete at least 75 % of the assignments. The course also has a word test, five compulsory assignments (three writing assignments, one speech production assignment, one speech comprehension assignment). An online exam is held at the end of the course.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
(1) The student is able to introduce himself / herself and briefly describe his / her family and hobbies and studies in Russian using aids (for example, a dictionary). The student is able to interpret easy Russian texts using aids (for example, a dictionary). The student is able to answer simple questions briefly, but not with justification. (2) The student is able to introduce himself / herself and briefly describe his / her family and hobbies and studies in Russian, but needs aids (eg a dictionary) to support him / her. The student is able to interpret simple Russian texts, but needs support tools (for example, a dictionary). The student is able to answer simple questions briefly, but not with justification.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
(3) The student is able to introduce himself / herself and tell about his / her family and hobbies and studies moderately fluently in Russian. The student is able to interpret simple Russian texts, and is able to briefly describe the content in his or her own words in Russian using aids (for example, a dictionary). The student is able to answer simple questions, but needs aids (such as a dictionary) or the help of a conversation partner to support the argument. (4) The student is able to introduce himself / herself and tell about his / her family and hobbies and studies fluently in Russian. The student is able to interpret simple Russian texts, and is able to communicate the content in Russian in his or her own words, mainly without aids. The student is able to answer the questions asked of him / her, and is able to justify his / her answer for the most part without the support of the interlocutor, or aids.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
(5) The student is able to introduce himself / herself and tell about his / her family and hobbies and studies fluently and comprehensively in Russian. The student is able to interpret simple Russian texts, and is able to explain the content in his or her own words in Russian without aids. The student is able to answer the questions asked to him / her naturally, and is able to justify his / her answer without the support of the interlocutor, or aids.
