Objective

The students design a programmable system for a circuit. A processor, an IP block and a VHDL block is embedded into a circuit. They are connected with a bus for block data transfer. The students learn to understand and implement a complex, fully programmable system for a circuit. The necessary tools are introduced by using them.

Content

- the features of an embedded processor
- bus structure, use and generation
- the creation of one’s own IP block
- building a system of blocks
- loading the system on a circuit and checking its operation

Qualifications

- VHDL design and FPGA circuit structure and features

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent (5) The student can build a full embedded system on a FPGA circuit using IP modules.
Good (3-4) The student can implement several IP modules on a FPGA circuit and connect them to common bus.
Satisfactory (1-2) The student can implement a simple IP module on a FPGA circuit.
