Objective
The student
-knows the medical contents related to pregnancy and childbirth
-knows the medical, nutritional and social contents related to the growth and development of children and adolescents
-knows the possibilities of occupational medicine to support an employee’s health
-understands the significance of multiculturalism in health care work
-understands the importance of preventing inequality of health and exclusion in health care work
-knows the main concepts and ideas related to the management of health care work
-has the basic capabilities needed for entrepreneurship in health care
Content
-Medical issues related to pregnancy and childbirth
-Medical, nutritional and social issues related to the growth and development of children and adolescents
-Supporting the mental health of children and adolescents
-Occupational medicine
-Inequality of health and preventing exclusion.
-Managing health care work and the methods of personnel management
-Public health care nurses as developers of their own work
-Entrepreneurship in health care work
Qualifications
The student masters the basics of nursing and has theoretical and clinical competency in the fields of health promotion, nursing related to national health concerns, families and communities and s/he is able to operate in different health care settings.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Pass
The student is familiar with the knowledge base of public health nursing practice. He/she is motivated to acquire information independently. The student is able to apply the information he/she has acquired and justify its use from various perspectives. He/she is able to present public health nursing information in a structured manner in interactive situations.
The student has good competences in public health nursing practice. He/she has good competences in public health nursing both from a medical and a societal point of view. He/she is able to assess his/her own improving skills in relation to the competence requirements of public health nursing. He/she is motivated to improve his/her skills.
The student is motivated to assume responsibility for promoting the health, ability to function and wellbeing of customers and families. He/she is able to take into consideration in a versatile manner in his/her actions the special features and principles of encountering customers. He/she is able to plan, organise and continually develop his/her own activities. He/she takes into consideration the significance of multiprofessional cooperation in supporting the wellbeing of customers.
