Objective
The students know the human view and values of occupational therapy as well as the instructions of professional ethics to occupational therapists. The students understand the use of empathic guidance, teaching and themselves as part of therapy. They know the basics of client centered -orientation, dialogue and empowerment-orientation. The students understand the factors affecting the creation and ending of a therapy relationship and can examine the possibilities of a therapeutic process of change. They know some of the techniques of interview and means of active listening. The students recognise factors related to coping as a therapist. The students know the Model of Human occupation (MOHO) and Canadian model of occupation performance (CMOP).

Advanced expert (4-5):
The student has a justified undertanding of the idea of man and values in occupational therapy and the professional ethics guidelines of the occupational therapist, and he/she shows an ability for critical thinking. The student has an understanding of emphatic guidance and teaching and of using his/her personality as part of therapeutic work, and he/she is able to draw on these in the practical work. The student is able to utilise the principles of client-orientedness, dialogicality and resource-orientedness in client situations. The student is aware of the factors that influence establishing and ending a therapeutic relationship. He/she is familiar with the process of therapeutic change. He/she masters interview techniques and methods of active listening. The student recognises the factors associated with coping as a therapist. The student is familar with the Model of Human Occupation and the Candadian Model of Occupational Performance and is able to justify his/her actions based on these theories. The student shows initiative in assuming responsibility for tasks assinged to him/her and demonstrates an instructive approach to these.
Student with basic skills (1-2)
The student has mastered the basic knowledge of the idea of man and values in occupational therapy and the professional ethics guidelines of an occupational therapist. The student understands emphatic guidance, teaching and using one's personality as part of therapeutic work, as well as the basics of client-orientedness, dialogicality and resource-orientedness. The student is aware of factors that influence establishing and ending a therapeutic relationship. He/she recognises the process of therapeutic change. He/she practises interview techniques and methods of active listening. The student recognises the factors associated with coping as a therapist. The student is familiar with the Model of Human Occupation and the Canadian Model of Occupational Performance. The student copes with tasks assigned to him/her.
Fail:
The student does not demonstrate a mastery of the essential content areas of the course. He/she cannot cope with tasks assigned to him/her, nor does he/she assume responsibility for them.
