Objective

The students know the principles of process management and process thinking. The students can comprehensively describe, assess/measure and develop operational processes as part of the process development. They can apply quality, environmental and safety systems and also quality award criteria to the development of processes.

Content

Process management, operating systems and system thinking, continuous improvement, process-based development and updating of operations management systems.
Implementation of the quality award criteria (EFQM, MBNOA etc.).

Qualifications

The students have the basic technical knowledge and skills to be able to understand technical documentation and publications in the field of technology and they can apply the knowledge to their own work. The students are familiar with the basics of entrepreneurship.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent (5): An expert able to develop the special field in working life. The student masters the essential knowledge and skills required to earn the grade 4. In addition, he/she can apply and critically and innovatively assess them when solving/developing development problems/modes of operation. The student has the ability to combine innovatively the knowledge of different fields with new knowledge and new modes of operation.
The student has the ability to manage and improve the organization’s modes of operation and to take responsibility for the development of the professional field and for the strategic assessment of the operations.

Good (3-4): An expert of the organizational development. The student masters the essential knowledge and skills of the course and the connections of the knowledge to the knowledge of the other fields:
-can comprehensively assess/measure and develop operational principles (new modes of operation) using process management principles
-masters the essential principles of strategic quality, environmental and safety management: e.g. the quality award criteria, thoughts of the standards, and he/she can use, combine and justify them in development activities.
The student has the ability to manage and improve the modes of operation in the work community and to take responsibility for the development of working practices.

Satisfactory (1-2): A developing expert. The student knows the basic knowledge, skills and terminology but there are some shortcomings in implementing the most important knowledge. The student can satisfactorily solve atypical problems and develop new modes of operation but the point of view is limited and non-critical.
The student has the ability to manage and improve the modes of operation of a team and to take responsibility for the improvement of the development of work practices.

Assessment is based on the assignments.
