Further information

At the course students become familiar with the 7-layer OSI reference model and its use. After the course the studens also know the most important concepts of data transmission, media types, transmission and reception technologies, most important modulations (QPSK, DPSK, QAM, OFDM), that affect communication capacity and quality on different media, data flow controls, protocols on the 2. layer, link utility and methods to data media access. Concepts and technologies: signal, data (bit), information (I), time- and frequency domain, Capacity, BER, BER,PER, QPSK, DPSK, QAM, OFDM,digital transmission coding, sliding window, Go-back- N ARQ, Selective Reject ARQ, DLC, HDLC, PPP, synchronizing, FEC- and BEC- error management, CRC cheching.
