Content scheduling

Each lesson has own topics. Students will create teams for team exercise project. Exercise project starts in the beginning of the course and it will be finalized in the end of the course.

Objective

You will learn the basics and calculation of power transmission gear boxes and gear wheels. You will learn basic principles and how to calculate basic connections between machine parts, e.g. screw joints and welding joints.

Investigations and information retrieval:
You can analyze and solve technical challenges.

Engineering practice:
You can calculate and select the most common machine components and joints.

Content

Selected machine components which are commonly used in mechanical engineering:
Design of shafts
Shaft connections
Design of gear transmissions
Design of bolted joints
Design of welded joints

Materials

Lecture handout.

Teaching methods

Theory lessons and examples of calculation tasks. Home work calculation tasks. Team exercise project.

Exam schedules

Exam at the last lesson time. Two resits.

Student workload

Lectures 16 h
Calculation exercises 65 h
Assignment 54 h
Total 135 h
