Objective
The student
• understands the meaning of music and physical activities in human self-knowledge, mental, social and physical development, health and well-being
• understands music and physical activities as a way and a method of self-expression and education in client work and social care with children and/or adult people
• student knows her musical, expressive and bodily strengths
• is able to use musical and physical expression and exercises in interaction, education and client work, as well as in community work
Content
• Theoretical and practical basics of music and physical activation in education, social rehabilitation and health promotion
• Exercises applied in working with diverse client groups in different ages
• Methods and materials of music, physical education and movement
• Principles and practice in creative and functional group counseling with different people, ages, client groups and communities
Teaching methods
In this course we learn together through music and physical exercises. Study method is learning by doing and dialogues. You instruct three sessions for diverse client groups. You write a review and session plan for the instructions of client groups. In final seminar you present your learning experiences to other students.
Lectures, groupwork, contact lessons, planning, instructing and reflecting group sessions.

The student
• has theoretical and practical competence in music and physical activities
• is creative and innovative in her functional, written, musical and bodily problem solving skills, counselings and presentations
• is capable of developing her practical counseling skills in client work
• is able to critically assess her own musical and physical actions, and counseling skills in client work
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
