Objective
Purpose of the course
After completing this course, you will be able to make your working environment in agriculture and forestry safer. You recognize the loads and hazards of your operating environment and can protect yourself from these with personal protective equipment. As an employee, you know the responsibilities of labor protection for your own work on the farm and in forestry. As an employer, you know your company's labor safety responsibilities and understand the importance of employee well-being at work for sustainable production.

Agricultural Knowledge
- Evaluate, develop and take into account occupational safety in the agricultural environment and understand the importance of well-being at work.
- You take into account the special features of occupational safety in crop production. You can handle plant protection products and fertilizers safely.
- You know how to work safely with farm animals. You will recognize signs of safe conditions in your production premises and be able to handle chemicals related to production. When moving animals, you understand the safe handling of them.
- In machine work, you understand the importance of ergonomics. You can identify crushing, noise, dust and chemical hazards in machine work. You will be able to recognize the importance of the safety equipment for different machines and the safe use of lifting and handling equipment.
Forestry Skills
- Evaluate, develop and take into account farm-level forest management safety, ergonomics and well-being at work.
- You recognize the importance of auxiliary and protective equipment for forestry equipment.
Learning outcomes in the course
After studying course Occupational health and safety on farms, you understand the importance of occupational safety and know the risks of occupational safety in agricultural machinery and arable land, productive livestock, and forestry. You know the entrepreneur's responsibilities as an employer. As an employee, you know your rights to a safe work environment.

Consepts of customer and supplier and their responsibilities.
Occupational Safety Act, where applicable.
Work load factors, risk management, safety factors related to machinery, animals and lifting.

Written assignments describe topics related to occupational safety in the farm environment.
Exam schedules
Study assignments and exercises have one actual assessment date and two correction recovery days. There is no exam in the course. Depending on the certificate courses selected, the training may include literature exams, online exams or demonstration-based exams. The dates are announced at the beginning of the course as part of the course schedule.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The assessment of the course is quantitative. The course consists of two written assignments which are assessed as pass / fail.
The total score of the course is 70 and consists of 10 online assignments:
Every excercise needs to be done and eight excercises must be passed (min. 50% of the exercise points)
The points for all tasks are added together.
The grade is formed as the total percentage of the points as follows:
- Both written assignments need to be accepted
- >=50%, Grade 1
- >=60%, Grade 2
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Good 3 and excellent 4. The grade is formed as the percntage of the points as follows:
- Both written assignments need to be accepted
- >=70%, Grade 3
- >=80%, Grade 4
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Excellent 5. The grade is formed as the percentage of the points as follows:
- Both written assignments need to be accepted
- >=90%, Grade 5
