Content scheduling

This study unit begins on 15th December 2022.

Objective

You will get to know the basic quantities and laws of electrical engineering and learn how to apply them to simple calculations of direct current and alternating current circuits. The lessons learned in this course will be needed in several of the following courses in electrical engineering.

EUR-ACE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
You will have knowledge and understanding of the scientific and mathematical principles of electrical engineering. You will understand the operation of a resistor, coil and capacitor as part of an electrical circuit, as well as the power concepts of alternating current and the significance of the resonance phenomenon.

Content

electrical quantities
graphic symbols
basics of direct current and alternating current
phase shift
impedance quantities and power
load and source handling as part of the circuit
resistor, coil and capacitor
resonance phenomenon

Materials

Learning environment (Moodle) materials

Additional material: books and e-books related to the basics of electrical engineering

Teaching methods

Problem-based learning is used as a learning method. Learning takes place through independently solved and returned learning tasks. The completion of the learning tasks is guided by the video instructions.

Exam schedules

Exam 1 24/02/2023 (Jyväskylä main campus)
Exam 2 24/03/2023 (Jyväskylä main campus)
Exam 3 21/04/2023 (Jyväskylä main campus)
