Objective

Purpose of the course
In this course, you will introduce yourself with evidence-based nursing and learn to utilize it in nursing decision-making, as well as understand the responsibility of your own professional role in evidence-based nursing. You will also familiarize yourself with the legislation governing the service system, services and customer service in the social and health sector.

Learning outcomes of the course

Learning to learn: Can acquire, critically evaluate and appropriately apply the national and international knowledge base and practices of one's field.

Acting in working life: Can act professionally in communication and interaction situations in working life.

Ethical competence: Understands the principles of good scientific practice and acts in accordance with them.

Evidence-based operation and decision-making competence: Recognizes the need for evidence-based nursing and commits to implementing it.



Competence goal of the course

You know how to acquire, critically evaluate and appropriately apply the national and international knowledge base and practices of your field. You understand the principles of good scientific practice and act in accordance with them.

You recognize the need for evidence-based nursing work and commit to implementing it. You apply evidence-based information in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing work. You know how to act professionally in communication and interaction situations in working life.

After taking the course, you will understand the changing service system of the social and health sector and the legislation regarding the services, and you will understand the meaning of the legislation defining the client's status and rights.

Key nursing concepts, values, nursing process, nursing science databases and nursing recommendations, documentation and related legislation.

The service system of the social and health sector, the central legislation governing it and the supervision of the service system. The importance of social and health services for individuals, communities and society.

You recognize the process of nursing work and can list the most common issues related to recording nursing work. You recognize the responsibility related to your own professional role in evidence-based nursing work and decision-making. You can narrowly name, from one point of view, the parts of the social and health service system and the legislation governing it.

Satisfactory 2
You can name several concepts, databases and recommendations used in nursing work. You understand the basics of using evidence-based information. You understand the process of nursing work and can describe the most common issues related to recording nursing work. You can describe the responsibility related to your own professional role in evidence-based nursing work and decision-making. You can narrowly describe the parts of the social and health service system and the legislation governing it from a few perspectives.

Good 3
You have an overall picture of the concepts, databases and recommendations used in nursing work and know how to search for information and use it. You understand the basics of using evidence-based information. You understand the process of nursing work and can justify the most common issues related to recording nursing work. You understand the responsibility related to your own professional role in evidence-based nursing work and decision-making. You can look at the social and health service system and the legislation governing it from several interrelated perspectives.

Very good 4
You have a broad picture of the concepts, databases and recommendations used in nursing work, you know how to search and apply them. You know the process of nursing work and justify the most common issues related to recording nursing work. You know how to apply the responsibility related to your own professional role in evidence-based nursing work and decision-making. You can describe the service system of the social and health sector and the legislation governing it as a broader entity.

You know the process of nursing work and how to justify and evaluate the most common issues related to recording nursing work. You know how to apply and evaluate the responsibility related to your own professional role in evidence-based nursing work and decision-making. In addition to the previous ones, you can bring out critical perspectives, with justification, about the service system in the social and health sector and the legislation governing it as a wider entity.
