Objective

The student is able to model the items to be worked on and produce drawings of them containing advanced geometrical product specifications and dimension items as 2D drawings and directly into 3D models based on model-based definitions. The student is able to adjust the settings of 2D drawings and model-based definitions to correspond with current standards.

EA-EE: EUR-ACE Engineering design / TKNSU: Competence in design:
The student is able to model the items of their choice in 3D and understands the possibilities of model-based definitions. The student is able to prepare unambiguous 2D images based on mechanical drawing standards.

YHTVI: Communication skills: Students are able to attach drawings and technical documents to their assignments and theses. The student knows how to use the 3D PDF data transfer format.

Content

3D modelling methods. The structure of the model and the use of a testing schematic as an aid. Drawing and assembly hierarchy. Creating drawings based on models and creating parts lists based on assembly drawings. Adjusting drawing settings and company-specific title blocks and parts lists. The Inventor modelling software is used during the course.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student is able to model the given assignments and make unambiguous workshop drawings based on them. The student must provide grounds for their selection of tolerances, materials and other choices related to manufacturing. Handing in assignments.

Qualifications

Basics of mechanical drawing and CAD, basics and advanced skills in Inventor or ability to use some other 3D modelling software.
