Objective

The purpose of the course
In this course you will learn the basics of midwifery medicine

Competences of the course
Professional competence in midwifery
Client competence in midwifery
Clinical competence as a sexual and reproductive health promoter midwife

Learning outcomes of the course
After completing the course, you will understand the physiology of pregnancy, childbirth and childbirth, and obstetric research and treatment methods, as well as pharmacotherapy in accordance with the requirements of midwifery.

You will understand the changes associated with neonatal well-being and the key perinatal and neonatal disorders and their treatment practices.

You will know the most common gynecological diseases and gynecological examination and treatment methods according to the requirements of midwifery.

In this course you will learn the basics of midwifery medicine.
In this Study Course, you will familiarize yourself with the following themes:

Obstetrics
Gynecology
Major perinatal and neonatal disorders and treatment
Drug calculation

Teaching methods

In this course, you will study the medical knowledge base of midwifery. You will actively participate in contact teaching in gynecology, obstetrics I, obstetrics II, and neonatology. Attendance is mandatory for contact teaching. The teaching will be primarily in the form of lectures, and you will also be required to participate in newborn resuscitation exercises. Some of the teaching will require you to prepare in advance. You will demonstrate your competence through written exams at the end of the teaching period. You must pass the medical calculation exams each semester.

Qualifications

The student masters the contents of anatomy and physiology as well as pharmacology and medicine related to the above mentioned nursing studies.
The student masters the methods of health promotion, internal medicine, mental health, substance abuse and crisis management, acute, operative nursing, family and pediatric nursing.
The student knows the principles of evidence-based decision making.
