Objective

The object of the course:
You familiarize yourself with the basics and basic concepts of auditing, what is required of an auditor and what are the prerequisites for acting as an auditor, and how to prepare for an audit situation in a company. When you complete this course, you know the legislation and recommendations of auditing and be able to describe the key aspects of the audit process. You are familiar with the independence and disqualification regulations of the auditor as well as the regulations for acting as an operational auditor. You know the key audit methods and be able to apply them to different audit targets. You can comment on the reporting to be given on the audit.

Course competencies:
Business competence: The student has a broad-based understanding of the business (marketing, services, management, finances, law, etc.).
Working in working life: Is able to act professionally in communication and interaction situations at a workplace.
Proactive development: Is able to apply existing knowledge in the field in development and utilises research and development methods.
Ethics: Is able to take responsibility for their own actions and their consequences and reflects on them in accordance with the ethical principles and values of their field.

The learning objectives of the course:
The learning objective is that you master the audit process and are able to justify and solve questions that arise in the audit process.

Content

The content of the course includes legislation concerning auditing, standards and norms, planning and organization of auditing, implementation and reporting of auditing, auditor's responsibility and quality control, as well as the special features of different company forms from the perspective of auditing and operational auditing.

The exam will be during the end ond of november. The resit exams will be held in January 2026.

You describe key aspects of the audit process. You know the independence and disqualification regulations of the auditor, as well as the regulations for acting as an operational auditor. You are familiar with a few key audit methods and apply them to different situations under guidance.

Satisfactory 2
You are familiar with audit legislation and recommendations. You describe the key aspects of the audit process. You know the most important independence and disqualification regulations of the auditor, as well as the regulations for acting as an operational auditor in key respects. You are familiar with the most common audit methods and their application in ordinary audit situations. You are capable of participating in reporting on the audit.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good 3
You name the key legislation of auditing and know the key recommendations, and you describe the main features of the auditing process. You are familiar with the most important regulations on auditor independence and disqualification, as well as the regulations for acting as an operational auditor. You are familiar with the key auditing methods and apply them to the most common audit targets. You comment on audit reporting.

Very good 4
You know the legislation and recommendations of auditing in general terms and describe the key aspects of the audit process. You are familiar with the auditor's independence and disqualification regulations, as well as the key regulations for acting as an operational auditor. You are familiar with the key auditing methods and can apply them to different audit targets. You comment on the most important audit reporting issues.

Excellent 5
You know the legislation and recommendations for auditing, and you can describe the key aspects of the auditing process. You know the key auditing methods and apply them to different audit targets. You take a stand on the reporting to be given on the audit and justify your views.
