Objective

In the course, you get to know the structure and function of the organ systems of the human body.
After attending the course, you will understand the structural and functional principles of a healthy human body, which you will apply and utilize in professional nursing studies and training.

You master the terminology and concepts related to anatomy and physiology. You can describe the structural and functional principles of the organ systems of the human body. You will understand the importance of the most important organs (brain, heart, lungs, liver and kidneys) from the point of view of the body's normal functioning.

Content

Cells and tissues; the basic structure of cells, the structure of tissues and organs.
Musculoskeletal system; the main features of bone and muscle tissue, the body's large bones and different joints, the superficial muscles of the body and their effect on the function of different joints.
Blood and circulation; blood composition and functions of the circulatory system. The central structures of the heart and the cardiac cycle. The main differences between veins and arteries, the body's most important blood vessels, the coagulation process of blood leakage, and the anatomical-physiological basis for measuring ECG and blood pressure.
Lymphatic left lymphatic system: Basic principles of the body's defense systems and the body's fluid circulation.
Respiratory; airways, lungs, and respiratory unit. Mechanics of breathing, lung ventilation and respiratory gas exchange. Basics of breathing regulation and respiratory volumes.
Digestion; the structure of the digestive system and the glands that produce digestive fluids and enzymes. Breakdown, absorption, storage and excretion of nutrients.
Structure and function of the kidneys and urinary tract. The importance of the kidneys from the point of view of the body's fluid, mineral and waste balance.
Endocrine endocrine system: The glands that produce hormones, the hormones they secrete and the effect of hormones on the functioning of the body.
Nervous system: Structure and function of the central and peripheral nervous system. Structure and function of the autonomic nervous system. Generation, conduction and transmission of nerve impulses along the nerve pathway. Functional areas of the brain and motor and sensory neural pathways; tactile sensations and pain.
Senses: Sight; eye structure and function, sense of hearing and balance; ear structure and function and sense of smell; structure and function of the nasal cavity.
