Objective
The object of this course:
In this course you will learn to recognise the strategic targets of the organisation and procurement. You identify the cost, risk and value in purchasing management. In addition you begin to understand the Basic tools of purchasing management and recognise the impact of purchasing to the organisations sustainability targets.
The course competences:

Cost, risk and value in purchasing management
Category management and organisational models of purchasing
Contracts and contract management
The future of purchasing management

Teaching methods
This course includes classroom teaching at Rajakatu. It includes interactive lessons, group work, and independent study.
Students must confirm their participation in the course within three weeks of the course start date. The confirmation method will be explained during the first contact session (absences will be handled according to the examination regulations).
The Moodle learning environment will be used for this course.

Exam schedules
The course includes an exam/exams, the date of which will be specified at the beginning of the course.
The exam can be retaken, but the result of the retake will be final.

3. Student understands the role of organisation strategy and procurement strategy as a part of strategic management of a business, and knows how they are connected. They understand cost, risk and value in purchasing management, how to use them and their affect to each other. In addition, they understand the basic tools of purchasing management.
4. Student understands the role of different strategies to a business, and knows how to apply the organisational strategy to purchasing strategy. They manage cost, risk and value in purchasing management. In addition, they can apply the basic tools of purchasing management.

Qualifications
The basics of purchasing. Student is able to find information idependently and to prepare reports. They have basic knowledge of the logistics processes.
