Musiikkipedagogiikka varhaislapsuudessa -opintojakson ensimmäinen osa toteutuu syksyllä 2025 painottuen leikki- ja esiopetusikäisten musiikkiasvatukseen (4, 5 op);
toinen osa toteutuu keväällä 2026 painottaen esi- ja alkuopetusikäisten musiikkikasvatusta sekä soiton ryhmäopetuksen alkeiden ohjaamista (4,5 op)..
Objective
The purpose of the course is that you familiarise yourself with the music education of children under school age. You are able to use and apply the working methods and methods of music education in different guidance situations, taking into account the principles of participation. You understand the experiential and holistic approach of goal-oriented music education. You are able to guide the basics of playing and co-playing sessions for learners of different ages and backgrounds. You practice making your own singing and arrangements.
You understand the ethical and entrepreneurial nature of the teaching profession and evaluate your own and others' competence constructively and realistically.

Elementary teaching of playing and ensemble music in various activity groups

Planning of teaching taking into account the age and level of development of the child.

Teaching methods
You will participate in lessons, including lectures, demonstrations and workshops. You will practice group guidance in your student group, familiarising yourself with music education materials for Preschoolers Ages 3-7. You will work independently with other students in a small group, making a mini-project for families with children in a community, for example. library, kindergarten.
You will learn about early childhood music education and the work of a music teacher by following groups of children whose ages vary.
You write a learning diary describing the development of your learning process.
The materials and assignments of the course are in an e-learning environment, where you also return all the tasks you have done.
Employer connections
You observe the lessons in a place of your choice, for example in Gradia, the music groups of parish or private music schools.
The mini-project is implemented in a nearby place, eg in kindergartens, an art museum.

Approved:
You understand the holistic approach to music education in class discussions and written assignments. You are able to plan and implement goal-oriented music activities in a versatile manner using and applying the working methods and methods of music education. You demonstrate your competence in a versatile manner in written and practical exercises. You demonstrate mature self-assessment and development skills in demonstrations and practice.
