Objective
The students
• know the operating environments and work orientations of social counselling and education work
• know the competence areas and central work tasks of a Bachelor of Social Services.
Content
• Formal and informal operating environments in social counselling and education work and the client documentation legislation.
• The basics of Social and service counselling in adult social work, elderly work and among disabled.
• The basics of early education, work in child welfare and family work.
• The work environment and competences needed of Bachelor of Social Services with different client groups, (e.g in early education, special education, child welfare and family work, youth work, social and service counselling, work with the disabled and elderly, substance abuse and mental health work.)

• can name the different working environments at social and educational field
• can explain and name the different work and learning orientations, ideas of man and different values which are guiding the work
• know and can name the most important methods in client service management and guidance
• recognize the ethical questions brought up in client work
• can evaluate their own competences related to the core competences at sosionom´s work
• know how to find and share information based on theory and research and with this information they know how to build up written and oral presentations based in generally on good presentation manners and instructions of written assignments of Jamk
