Objective
The object of the course
After completing this course, you will have gained basic skills required in working in the tourism industry. You will know how to interact with people from different cultures and you know what digital skills are needed in tourism work. You will also acquire key certificates that are commonly required in tourism work nationally.

The learning objectives of the course
You understand the international nature of the tourism industry and importance for capability to work in multicultural teams. You are familiar with cultural dimensions and, with the help of the relevant theories, are able to identify and appreciate cultural diversities in intercultural interaction. You know the basic concepts in digitalization in tourism. You recognize the value and general applications of ICT tools in tourism industry. You complete the certificates needed to work in tourism business in Finland: Alcohol proficiency certificate, Hygiene proficiency certification and safety passports.
Content
The principal contents of this course are (1) Operating in multicultural environment and teams, (2) Intercultural understanding, (3) Basic concepts in digitalization in tourism, (4) Introduction to e-tourism, (5) An alcohol proficiency certificate, (6) Hygiene proficiency, and (7) Safety competence.
Location and time
Lectures will be mainly in class room but online participation options will be provided. More information when the course starts.

You have completed the certificates needed to work in tourism business in Finland: Alcohol proficiency certificate, Hygiene proficiency certification and safety competence.
The course assessment is Fail (0) if the student fails to achieve the minimum learning objectives for passing the course.
