Objective
You know and master the basics of inorganic and organic chemistry, basic concepts and terminology, and are are able to understand chemical phenomena. In addition, you can describe chemical phenomena and are able to apply them to emerging environmental and energy technology solutions.
Content
Green chemistry. Structure and state of matter. The formation of compounds, basic chemical reactions and key phenomena affecting the chemistry of compounds. Combustion, corrosion, material breakdown. Basics of electrochemistry. Basics of organic chemistry. Chemical unit processes.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
(1): You know the basics and terminology, but you have shortcomings in their application. You can solve clear basic solutions in chemistry.
Satisfactory (2): You know the basics and terminology, but you have shortcomings in applying them to non-basic solutions. You are able to solve clear basic solutions satisfactorily.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Good (3): You know most key basic chemistry areas are able to apply them to basic chemistry solutions.
(4): You master the key basic chemistry areas and are able to apply these skills in the most common chemistry solutions.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Excellent (5): You master the key basic chemistry areas of the course and are able to apply these skills critically and innovatively even in rather challenging chemical-related situations.
