Objective

Purpose of the course
After the course you will be able to use basic knowledge of medicine as well as first aid skills in interaction with clients or patients of social and health care work.

Learning outcomes of the course
After the course you will know the basics of bio medicine and clinical medicine. You will know patho-physiological phenomena of illness, pain and recovery. You will know the fundamental dysfunctions of respiration, heart and circulatory system, musculoskeletal system and central and peripheral nervous system. You will understand psychological issues as well as cure and rehabilitation principles related to them. You will know effects of medication and understand your own professional responsibilities in medical treatment. You will have basic competences in first aid.

Respiratory and cardiovascular disorders
Musculoskeletal disorders
Disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system and mental health disorders
Implementation and monitoring of safe pharmacological treatment

1 The student demonstrates sufficient knowledge in basics of biomedicine and clinical medicine. He or she has first aid skills.

2 The student demonstrates satisfactory knowledge in basics of biomedicine and clinical medicine. He or she has first aid skills.

3 The student demonstrates very good knowledge in basics of biomedicine and clinical medicine. He or she has first aid skills.

4 The student demonstrates satisfactory knowledge in basics of biomedicine and clinical medicine. He or she has first aid skills.

5 The student demonstrates excellent knowledge in basics of biomedicine and clinical medicine. He or she has first aid skills.
