Objective
The object of the course
This course serves as a foundation and an introduction to the managerial practices in the sport business fundamentals module. This course builds gradually on the discipline of management theories and governance of sport organizations in a sustainable manner.
After completing this course, you will understand the key concepts and driving factors of the international competition. You are familiar with strategic planning and needs of the key stakeholders. You are aware of the legal liabilities arising from business decisions relevant for the industry. You are familiar with the ethical code and norms of sport.
Course competences
Business Competence: You know the central theories related to this specialisation option. You possess at least an advanced beginner’s skills in the practical tasks of the specialisation option.
Sustainable development: You are able to use information related to your field in finding, implementing and establishing sustainable solutions and operating models.
The learning objectives of the course
Upon completion of the course, you show some ability to analyze and evaluate both academic and business information relevant to sport organisations and sport business. You are able to develop at least some solutions for business challenges with justification and you are familiar with topical trends related to sport organisations. You can transmit to a limited extent your and your team’s ideas and findings in English and you are able to show satisfactory level skills in inter- and multicultural setting and team work and able to create a self-assessment with justifications. You are able to identify sustainability related issues and discuss superficially their applications related to sport organisations.
Content
An introduction to concepts and theories in sport management, such as sport commercialization, governance, organizational structures and strategies, HRM, internationalization, entrepreneurship and the specific features of sport business.

You attempt to analyze and evaluate academic and business information relevant to sport organisations and sport business. You show some but narrow skills in analyzing business challenges and trends related to sport organisations and ideate some managerial implications. You can transmit to a limited extent your and your team’s ideas and findings in English. You show some but low-level skill in participating in inter- and multicultural setting and teamwork. You can name some very basic sustainability issues.
Satisfactory 2
You have some ability to analyze and evaluate academic and business information related to sport organisations and sport business. You can recognize business challenges and trends related to sport organisations and you can ideate managerial implications, but the approach is not supported with argumentation. You can get your main message through when presenting your and your team’s ideas and findings in English. You show some skill in participating productively in inter- and multicultural setting and teamwork.
You can name some sustainability related problems related to sport organisations.

You can evaluate relevant academic and business data and consider possible approaches and outcomes for sport organisations and sport business. You show analytical skills and logical thinking with justifications related to sport organisations and you discuss solutions for arising problems.
