Objective
Purpose of the course
You learn the structure of access networks, protocols and their design principles. You learn to search for information from industry standards and manuals in order to solve problems occurring in access networks.
EUR-ACE: Knowledge and understanding
EUR-ACE: Engineering practice
EUR-ACE: Investigations and information retrieval
Competence goal of the course
You know the protocols and principles of data transfer in access networks. You know the technologies and protocols used in access networks, and know how to configure them. You know how to design solutions used in the access network. You know how to search for information on industry standards and device manufacturers' manuals to solve problems in access networks. You know how access networks connect different (backbone, data center, local area) networks with different technologies and protocols.
Content
There are several technologies used in access networks and their development is continuous. The implementation of the study course describes its current, essential technologies. This list described in the course description is indicative:
- Connection solutions in different geographical situations (5G, DSL, FTTH/PON)
- Solutions connecting different networks (site-to-site & remote-worker VPN, VPN routing)
- Publishing technologies for internal network services (DNS, Network Address Translation)
- Programmable access network solutions (SD-WAN, SASE)
- Automatic initialization of access network devices (Zero-touch Provisioning)
Qualifications
