Objective

Purpose of the course:
The knowledge and skills you will need in this course will enable you to understand the heating, plumbing, drainage, ventilation, electrical and automation technologies of buildings for the construction and maintenance of buildings.

Course competences:
Knowledge and understanding: knowledge and understanding of appropriate materials, equipment, tools, technologies and processes and their limitations in your area of specialisation.
Communication and teamwork: the ability to work effectively with engineers and other professional groups.

Course objective:
Identify the heating, plumbing, drainage, ventilation, electrical and automation systems used in a building. You will understand the main principles of building services systems and their operation in terms of construction, building maintenance.
You will be able to interpret HVAC drawings from the point of view of construction and property maintenance.
These are also the basic tasks of the course.

Content

The structures, components and installation arrangements of the heating, water, sewerage, ventilation, electrical and automation systems of a building from the point of view of construction and maintenance.

Qualifications

Knowledge of the fundamentals of building construction techniques in terms of structures and materials.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Intermediate (1): the student knows and recognises the issues described in the learning objectives of the course and is able to perform the tasks described in the objectives of the course.

Satisfactory (2): The student knows, identifies and understands the issues described in the learning outcomes of the course.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (3): The student has achieved the learning outcomes of the course and is able to demonstrate his/her competence in a clear and understandable way. In addition, they are able to articulate what they have learned in a clear and concise manner and to apply it to practical tasks.

Excellent (4). The student is able to describe the effects of different solutions and to make informed choices between alternatives.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5): The student has achieved the learning outcomes of the course with excellent results. In addition, the student is able to examine the topics of the course theoretically and critically applied in practice. Competence is demonstrated in a coherent and multidimensional manner.
