Objective

You will learn about electricity transmission and distribution networks and different forms of electricity production. You will get a good understanding of the smart grid, renewable energy sources and electricity storage. Studying in this course requires engineering skills in electrical engineering.

EUR-ACE ENGINEERING PRACTICE
You outline the basic structure of the electricity transmission and distribution network and know their basic components. You know the basic components used in high voltage technology and their applications. You know the basic protection methods used in the electricity transmission and distribution network, such as short-circuit and earth-fault relay protection. You identify the requirements set by decentralized electricity generation for the control and structure of the electricity network. You know how to dimension and select equipment and components using techno-economic principles. You have knowledge of the protections and control of electricity distribution devices and switchgear as well as electrical systems.

EUR-ACE INVESTIGATIONS
Phenomena occurring in fault situations in the power grid are studied using laboratory work. Measurable phenomena are combined with theory through calculations.
