Objective
Purpose of the course
The aim of the course is to learn how to plan and supervise physical activities for children and young people with central and peripheral neurological disabilities.

Course competences:
You can work in a person centred way, promoting the health and well-being of individuals and groups, emphasising the importance of physical activity and exercise. You can describe the specificities of physical activity for children and young people with autism spectrum disorder and people with intellectual disabilities and apply physical activity forms and situations, taking into account the perceptual-motor, social and cognitive specific needs of the participants. You can create a reciprocal and inclusive interaction, taking into account the needs of the client. You can communicate clearly, precisely and understandably in guidance situations.
Content
The main focus of the course is the application of physical education to children and young people with autism spectrum disorder and people with developmental disabilities, with special attention to perceptual-motor, social and cognitive needs. The content includes games and play, the Sherborne body image method, outdoor exercise, picture communication, structuring of physical activity sessions and guidance sessions for children and young people in need of support.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
You can describe the specific features of physical activity for children and young people with autism spectrum disorder and people with intellectual disabilities and you can apply physical activity and situations taking into account the perceptual-motor, social and cognitive special needs of the participants. You will work in a natural interaction with your clients.
