Competences:
- FUNCTIONING ASSESSMENT COMPETENCE
- THERAPY COMPETENCE
- GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING COMPETENCE
Learning objectives:
You have knowledge and skills to assess function and function restrictions of the musculoskeletal system by means of interviews, observations, manual therapy and differential diagnostic tests. You can also assess movement and movement system impairment, and draw clinical conclusions based on the above. You are capable of planning, implementing and applying manual therapy and appropriate therapeutic exercise progressively to maintain and promote the client’s functioning in different environments.
Content
Analysis, differential diagnostic examination and clinical reasoning of movement and movement impairment syndromes of a client with function restrictions of the musculoskeletal system. Utilisation and application of various therapeutic methods suitable for the physiotherapy of the musculoskeletal system in exercises and guidance. Utilisation of the basics of manual therapy and mobilisation in the limitations of body functions of soft tissues and joints (spinal and extremity joints). Exercises and guidance methods for movement control disorders, mobility, stability and ergonomics in the promotion of the client’s functioning. Basics of orthopaedic-traumatological physiotherapy.
Qualifications
Principles of Motor Development and Motor Learning, basics of Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics, basics of Functioning Assessment.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Adequate (1) Your knowledge of and skills in the physiotherapy assessment and therapy of a client with functional limitations of the musculoskeletal system consist of isolated, although relevant, aspects. In skills demonstrations, you attempt to use some assessment and therapy methods based on movement control, manual therapy and differential diagnostics and instruct them to a case client. Your guidance skills need practice, but you bring up isolated aspects of the basics of exercising. You demonstrate that you master a few manual grips and techniques. You consider ergonomics occasionally. You have challenges with assessing yourself and others. In written assignments, you describe certain isolated aspects related to the subject matter. You have utilised literature and references in the field of physiotherapy.
