Objective
The aim of the course is advancing the theoretical knowledge studied in the module by participating in work in the field of rehabilitation. During the course, students learn to encounter the client individually and to understand the significance of counselling in the rehabilitation process.

Intended learning outcome:
Operating in a workplace: You know how to act constructively in the work community and look after your well-being at work and occupational safety. You are able to work professionally in communication and interaction situations in the workplace, both face to face and online.
Case management and methods in rehabilitation: You are able to work in dialogical interaction with rehabilitees, their close networks and other professionals, taking client safety into account. You are aware of the general objectives of rehabilitation and the individual rehabilitation needs and objectives of the rehabilitee, and you are able to guide the client or group accordingly.
Ethics: You work to promote the clients’ participation and equity. You are able to reflect on your actions in keeping with the ethical principles and values of health care and social services.
Proactive development: You are able to drawn on research evidence in case management. You know how to take health-related challenges into account in counselling.
Content
The key content of the course comprises learning to encounter the rehabilitation client, taking their individual situation and rehabilitation needs into account comprehensively. You practise dialogical interaction in encounters and reflect on your action in interaction situations. You examine the rehabilitation counsellor's role in guiding the client and promoting the goals of rehabilitation.
Qualifications
You understand the key concepts of rehabilitation case management and its significance at the level of the individual, community and society. You are familiar with different aspects of the service system and the main features of social security. You know the prerequisites associated with encountering people and interaction in case management.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
You are able to act constructively in the role of a student in the work community of your placement. You are able to work without putting your well-being at work and occupational safety at risk. You are able to describe what professionalism means in the different communication and interaction situations of the workplace in question, both face to face and online.
You know how to act in different interaction situations of the workplace, aiming for a dialogue. You recognise perspectives related to client safety. You are able to describe the general objectives of the rehabilitation service. You have guided the rehabilitee to promote the achievement of their personal rehabilitation goals.
You are able to give examples of promoting clients’ participation and equity. You recognise action that is in keeping with the ethical principles of health care and social services.
You identify information based on evidence. You are able to describe how diagnosed illnesses or injuries in clients of the rehabilitation service should be taken into account in terms of case management.
