Objective

Aim of the course
The aim of the course is to practise working together with the client to reach the goal by enabling occupation and increasing participation after the initial assessment and goal-setting phase of the occupational therapy process, and documenting this process.

Learning Outcomes
After completing the course, you will be able to draw on the knowledge needed in the occupational therapy process and document your work following up-to-date documentation guidelines. You demonstrate an ability to work reliably following ethical guidelines, are aware of your personal competence, and demonstrate the use of professional judgement and reflection competence. You are able to adapt and apply the occupational therapy process, working together with individuals and communities. You are able to work with the aim of creating an accessible and adaptable environment. You know how to promote occupational justice.

You know how to work together with individuals and groups on occupations that are health-promoting, rehabilitative, therapeutic and instructive as well as person-centered. You are able to select appropriate theories, models that guide the practical work and methods that meet the individual's/community's occupational and health-related needs.

Content

The core content of the course comprises guided practical training in an occupational therapist's work environments, projects, and/or placements that support an entrepreneurial work approach. In the practical training, an evidence-based intervention based on occupational therapy theory is used to support the client’s functioning. Practice of documentation following recommendations.

Qualifications

You must have an understanding of the assessment phase and the goal setting phase in the occupational therapy process.

Pass
To pass the practical training, the student must demonstrate that they are able to document the work they have done. They have complied with the professional ethics guidelines of an occupational therapist and demonstrate an ability to use professional judgement and reflect on their work. The student has demonstrated their ability to adapt and apply the occupational therapy process appropriately. They have demonstrated a strive to create an accessible and adaptable environment and promoted occupational justice. The student has worked together with individuals and groups to promote their health with a rehabilitative, therapeutic and person-centred work approach. They use and apply appropriately theories, models that guide the practical work and methods that meet the individual's/community's occupational and health-related needs.
