Objective

This course has been designed as a starting point for understanding Finnish working life and building your career in Finland. The course has been authored by recruitment and career specialists and complemented with stories and experiences from Aalto University international alumni. Finland Works offers you a curated collection of insights on working in Finland in an easily accessible course format, which you can complete at your own time and pace.

Finland is known as the happiest country in the world and many characteristics of Finnish working life speak for a healthy work-life balance. Nevertheless, for many international workers getting that first chance in the Finnish labour market can be sometimes tricky. The course offers Finnish working life perspectives from societal, organisational and individual levels as well as practical know-how.

You are required to complete each chapter in order pass the course and achieve the certificate. Grading takes place during the month of May and December.

Learning to learn:You develop critical and analytical mindset that helps you to study and review existing knowledge in the light of relevant learning resources and learning methods; you to acquire new knowledge; and develops your intellectual capabilities to seek conclusions and draw inferences in various contexts.

No exam, passing the course demands verification of learning obtained from the MOOC-platform i.e., certificate of accomplishment.

Alternative completion methods

You have the right to apply for recognition of your studies if you have prior learning (e.g. university studies completed elsewhere) that can be accredited towards the degree you are currently completing.
The recognition of prior learning is possible in three primary ways: accreditation (replacement or inclusion), recognition of informal learning and studification. More precise info: JAMK Degree Regulations, section 17.
