Objective

Purpose of the course:
You become familiar with the current phenomenon of leadership, which you apply in practice primarily to develop your own organization and work community or team.

You will learn about current phenomena in management from the perspectives of working life and research data.
Plan and/or implement a development project in which you evaluate, renew and develop organizational leadership and management practices. You apply and evaluate theoretical knowledge to solve practical problems and develop an organization, work community or team.
You produce new information on current management phenomena from the perspectives of sustainable development and ethics.

You will compile the refernce material from a few key research articles and non-fiction books suitable for the phenomenon. You identify and define key concepts. You summarize the essential theory of the topic/phenomenon, the connection of which to the research task is partly inadequate. You show responsibility for making a project plan that targets your team or work group. You outline a development project plan in which you have defined key contents. You demonstrate your competence by presenting the key potential results of the plan and consider their impact on leadership development. You're writing unstructured text with a variety of repetitive language and style errors. You follow the reporting instructions inadequately.

Satisfactory 2
You are able to acquire reference material from key research articles and non-fiction books suitable for the phenomenon. You mainly use original sources. You classify key concepts. You compile a knowledge base from references that support the topic and phenomenon. Theoretical knowledge does not discuss between references. You show responsibility for making a project plan in your organization or work community. You write a feasible time-bound development project plan with a clear structure. You demonstrate your competence by illustrating the potential results of the plan. You reflect on the significance of the plan and its results and their impact on leadership development and the result of the organization. You also reflect the topic from an ethical point of view. Current phenomena in management

Learning materials and recommended literature

The primary sources are research publications and so-called research publications. Original sources presenting new and current information and organizational documents:
• scientific/academic research articles published in journals and conference papers (peer review)
• review articles presenting and commenting on previous research and published in scientific journals
• academic books, e.g. monographs and collections of articles and textbooks;
• doctoral dissertations and research reports
• high-quality research-based articles in professional journals
• internal documents of the organization

Teaching methods

Study methods
Current phenomena in management is a course implemented in an online learning environment. In the learning environment you will find course instructions, schedules, assignments and study materials. The method is project- and/or challenge-based learning. You will learn to utilize theoretical knowledge to develop organizational practices.
In the Development Report assignment, you do independent information gathering and apply what you have learned by solving a problem or challenge of your chosen organization.

Guidance
You will receive guidance in the learning environment (e.g. question and answer forum) and webinars.

Feedback
You will receive both qualitative and quantitative evaluation and feedback on your Development Report learning assignment.
You give feedback on the course (mid-term and final feedback on the implementation).

Practical training and working life connections

The development work is targeted at the selected organisation. Cooperation with working life is promoted by sharing learning communally.

International connections

During the course, you will utilise international research literature.

Alternative completion methods

You can familiarise yourself with 17§ of Jamk's degree regulations when con-sidering the recognition and recognition of course competence based on your previously acquired competence and the objectives of the course.
