Objective

The aim of the course is to develop solid, basic skills to work in different contexts in the field of nursing. You will learn basic terminology to communicate with your clients and colleagues. You are able to give clear instructions and tell about your clients’ condition and care. You know how to seek relevant information in English and how to improve your language skills autonomously during your studies and in your work.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student understands clear spoken and written English concerning clients’ care. He/she masters the basic structures of the language and communicates efficiently. The level of pronunciation is sufficient to convey the intended message. The range of vocabulary enables coping in the most common situations in the field of nursing. He/she can communicate in English with clients in common everyday situations and report on clients’ status to a multi-professional team using English in both written and spoken forms. He/she acts responsibly and abides by established agreements.
