Objective
SIENHA (Strategic Innovative Educational Network for Healthy Aging) is an Erasmus+ partnership project. The aim of the project is to create innovative practices and know-how in the social and health sector in the EU, and to increase awareness for the support of well-being and promotion of health at different stages of life. As part of the SIENHA project, the TTLA (Teaching, training, and learning activities) intensive week in Portugal (ESSA) will be implemented between 6 and 10 February 2023.
The aim of the course (5 credits) is for the student to deepen their understanding and theoretical thinking on healthy ageing and health-promoting activities related to aging within the framework of the SIENHA project. Student participates to an intensive week according to the programme and develops a deeper understanding on the topic through learning tasks. The student understands health-promotion in aging as a phenomenon, the opportunities, and related challenges at a European level, in addition to the importance of multiprofessional and multicultural cooperation. Student also familiarises themselves with the research literature on the topic and reflects their learning within the above-mentioned contents.
Content
The SIENHA project: purpose, target, and reference framework
- healthy ageing and health-promotion of ageing as a phenomenon in Europe
- opportunities and challenges related to aging and health promotion actions in a society within the SIENHA partner countries
- multiprofessional and multicultural cooperation related to healthy ageing and health promotion of the elderly
The course, part of the 5 cr supplementary Master (YAMK) studies, consists of the following:
- 1 ECTS written preliminary assignment (in Teams, also including network preliminary meetings 1-2 h) total 27 h
- 4 ECTS participation in the TTLA intensive week according to the programme in Portugal (ESSA campus) 6-10 2023, written final assignment (in Teams) and self-evaluation/final feedback total 108 h
Total 5 ECTS = 135 h
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
The general assessment criteria for the skills and knowledge required for a master’s degree can be found from our website (https://studyguide.jamk.fi/en/Study-Guide-Masters-Degrees/). The learning outcomes of the course are assessed in relation to learning objectives based on knowledge, skills and general competencies (National and European Qualifications Framework, level 7).
Pass: The student masters the key concepts related to healthy ageing and recognizes the opportunities and challenges in the promotion of healthy ageing in Europe. The student is capable of reflecting them based on evidence in a variety of ways. The student participates in an intensive week and its programme in Portugal (ESSA) during 6.-10.2.2023 and returns written pre- and post-learning assignments.
Fail: The student does not master the key concepts related ti healthy ageing and doesn´t recognize the opportunities and challenges in the promotion of healthy ageing in Europe. The student is incapable of reflecting them based on evidence in a variety of ways. The student doesn´t participate in an intensive week and its programme in Portugal (ESSA) during 6.-10.2.2023 and doesn´t return written pre- and post-learning assignments.
