Objective

You can: - explain the key definitions of equine welfare - describe the horse's natural behavioural needs and their importance for the horse's welfare - identify behavioural problems in horses and understand their possible causes - observe the horse's welfare and identify how welfare indicators are expressed in practice - collect data on horse welfare and assess the relevance of the measurement results for horse welfare and make recommendations and development measures

You can - identify some definitions related to horse welfare - identify some of the behavioural needs and problems of the horse, but describe their importance for welfare at a general level - identify some welfare indicators, but the observation and justification, as well as the evaluation and development measures to be taken from them, are inadequate

You can - explain key definitions of well-being in outline and use the correct terms - explain the main behavioural needs of the horse and understand their impact on the horse's welfare - identify behavioural problems and explain their most common causes from a horse welfare perspective - observe and analyse key welfare indicators, giving reasons for doing so - evaluate the data collected on welfare and make reasoned recommendations for improving the welfare of the horse

You can - explain the key definitions of horse welfare in detail and apply them to different situations - comprehensively explain the behavioural needs of the horse and their significance, and link them to welfare assessment and development - identify behavioural problems, understand the underlying causes and suggest solutions - accurately observe and analyse welfare indicators - systematically collect welfare data, critically analyse the results and present well-founded, practical and feasible development measures
