Content
- Horse breeding in Finland: indicators and registers - Basic concepts of heredity - Breeding characteristics of horses, in particular structure and performance - Breeding programmes for horses
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
You can - tell some of the characteristics of Finnish horse breeding - present the importance of registration and pedigree data, but their application in assessing heredity or breeding value is limited - define some concepts related to heritability - identify some breeding traits, but the evaluation of the importance of structure and performance remains at a general level - describe breeding programmes in a limited way - only partially apply what they have learned to practical breeding work
Assessment criteria, good (3)
You can - describe the key indicators of Finnish horse breeding and understand their general significance for the equine sector - explain the importance of registration and pedigree data in assessing the genetic and breeding value of horses at a general level - describe the main concepts related to heritability and apply them to some extent to breeding objectives - define the main characteristics to be bred and assess the importance of the horse's structure and performance in breeding - explain the importance of breeding programmes and analyse their objectives in general - apply what you have learned to practical breeding work and take into account the sustainability aspect
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
You can - describe accurately and clearly the key figures of Finnish horse breeding and justify their impact and importance for the development of the equine sector - describe and justify comprehensively the importance of registration and pedigree data and consider their use in the evaluation of breeding value - interpret concepts related to heredity and apply them purposefully to breeding work - to define accurately the characteristics to be bred and to analyse the importance of the horse's structure and performance for the purpose of breeding - to explain comprehensively the importance of breeding programmes and to evaluate comprehensively the objectives and methods of horse breeding - apply your knowledge to practical breeding work and breed horse material in a goal-oriented and sustainable manner
