Objective

The student understands and is able to use the main basic structures and a limited basic vocabulary of the target language. The student also learns about the culture and customs of the language area. CEFR level : Starting level 0 > target level A1 on the European Framework of Reference for Languages scale of proficiency.

Content

The alphabet and basic pronunciation principles, simple oral and written communication in everyday situations (e.g. introducing oneself, days of the week, buying tickets, shopping). Key structures (e.g. interrogatives, personal pronouns, verb conjugation in the present tense, modal verbs, gender of nouns, cases: nominative and accusative, word order, negatives). Language learning strategies.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student identifies and understands the basic structures covered in the course and uses the basic vocabulary learned in the course in a limited manner. The student can cope with simple written and oral communication situations in an understandable way. The student recognises the importance of keeping to deadlines and being responsible.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student uses the basic structures and vocabulary covered in the course in a largely consistent way. The student is able to cope with written and oral communication situations. They can keep to deadlines and act responsibly.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student applies the basic structures and vocabulary covered in the course consistently. The student copes with written and oral communication situations in everyday life in an appropriate manner. They act responsibly and clearly assess the impact of their own actions.

Further information

Students have the possibility to demonstrate their previously acquired competences, for which they do not have a certificate issued by a higher education institution, by taking the RPL (Recognition of prior learning) test.
