Objective

The student understands how to formulate a national or a global intellectual property strategy as it may apply to patents, utility models,protection of designs, trademarks copyrights or trade secrets. Basic approaches to patent applications are covered for both Finland and the USA.

Laws, innovation processes, invention, patenting, creative rights, business strategies, prosecution of patents, strategic planning processes.

The final grade will be based on the case evaluation (IP Strategy) and the essay of Mr. Villamar lecture (Pass/Fail).
