Data NetworksLaajuus (5 cr)

Objective

The students master the basic concepts of networks and they can install a workgroup network and a server network. The students know the most important network operating systems, network protocols and their significance. The students know the Ethernet network types and network cables and the most typical network equipment, like switches and routers. The students know also the most important measures which improve the data security of local area networks.

Basics of ICT. Wordprocessing reports according to the instructions of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Excellent (5): The students can apply creatively the matters learned during the course. They can plan and build a company network and they can set up the most common services / servers in the network.
Good (3-4): The students can apply the concepts handled during the course in a suitable and goal-oriented way. They can plan and build the network of a small company.
Satisfactory (1-2): The students understand the basics of the structure of networks and they can build simple networks.
