PC Monitoring StationsLaajuus (5 cr)

Objective

Upon completing the course, the students know the features and design methods of PC operator stations and can connect a PC operator station to a programmable logic and to a process control station. They can design a PC operator interface for a programmable logic or a process control station. They know the principles of the OPC standard interface and are able to integrate the hardware of different suppliers into operator station operations with an OPC interface. They can design user interfaces with the PC operator station software for different applications of manufacturing automation and process automation.

Content

PC operator stations and their HW and SW structure. Basic user interface design. PC operator stations and OPC connection. The connection of monitoring stations to PLC logic controllers and process stations.

Qualifications

Basic competence in automation systems

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Very good (4-5): The student masters the basics of the HW and SW structure and the user interface design of the PC operator stations, the OPC connection and also the connection of the operator station to the PLC logic and process control station.
Good (3): The student has achieved the learning objectives related to the HW and SW structure and the basics of the user interface design of the PC operator stations, the OPC connection and also the connection of the operator stations to the PLC logic and process control station.
Satisfactory (1-2): The student is familiar with the basics of the HW and SW structure and the user interface design of the PC operator stations, the OPC connection and also the connection of the operator station to the PLC logic and process control station, but the independent implementation of the knowledge is inadequate.
