Objective
The students can choose forestry and management methods appropriate for the stand’s development phase. They can also evaluate the effect of the methods on the environment, the development of the stand, and on the profitability of forestry. The students recognise the most important factors causing forest damage, and they can prevent forest damage.
Content
The basics of stand management, young stand management, intermediate felling, peatland forest management, forest fertilisation, prevention of forest damage
Qualifications
The students know the habitat classification of forests and forest regeneration methods
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Inexperienced performer (1-2)
o The student can determine the need for stand management and choose the management measures suitable for the development phase of the stand, and can recognise essential forest damage.
Developing performer (3-4)
o In addition to the aforementioned, the student can assess the impact of the measures on wood production, and prevent forest damage.
Competent performer (5)
o In addition to the aforementioned, the student can assess the sustainability of the measures and apply forest management measures in a changing operating environment.
