Wellness Technology in the Work of PhysiotherapistLaajuus (5 cr)

Objective

The students can evaluate, design and form a healthy and safe work environment. They are able to promote people’s good functionality as well as safe work. They can work in cooperation with companies.
The students can use physical therapy equipment safely. They know the dosage principles of the equipment and they can justify their effects.

Content

Organisation of labour protection and occupational health service. TULES ergonomy in different tasks. Mental stress at work. Survey and design of work environment. Measurements of work environment and work stress. Work and client safety. Theories of pain. Electromagnetic spectrum. Effects of cell level to local phenomena. Electrotherapy , surface temperatures, core temperatures.

Qualifications

The students know the anatomy of musculoskeletal system. The students master the central measuring methods of the muscles and the cardio-respiratory system. The students master the basics of physics.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

4(very good)5(excellent) Student has excellent or very good knowledge from wellness technology and its applications in working environment.She can use technology at her work in a safe and innovative way.
3(good) Student has good knowledge of wellness technology. She is able to solve problems in therapy.She is able to develop working environments.
1(fair) 2(poor)She has basic knowledge in wellness technology and ergonomics.Demanding tasks in wellness technology, in ergonomics and in working safety are challenging.
