Objective

The student knows the operations of the public, private and third sector rehabilitation service system as well as the distribution of work inside the service system. S/he knows the operational models, implementers and customer groups of rehabilitation.
The student gets a view of the administrative and economic issues related to the rehabilitation system and also from the viewpoint of entrepreneurship in rehabilitation work. S/he is familiarized with the central legislation concerning rehabilitation and has the basic knowledge of international rehabilitation.

Content

Operation models , contents and methods of rehabilitation provided by public and private, national health and patient organizations, relative and voluntary work as well as different projects. Rehabilitation of public health and social services, Social Insurance Institution, accident and motor insurance, employment administration and school system, operations maintaining working ability, rehabilitation in accordance with Employee Pensions Act, rehabilitation of disabled soldiers and veterans, operations maintaining working ability.
Rehabilitation laws, legislation concerning motor and accident insurance, legislation concerning workforce administration .
Rehabilitation in different countries, especially the rehabilitation of the EU countries.

Qualifications

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student has multi-faceted basic knowledge of the Finnish rehabilitation service system, its legislation and distribution of work. S/he is able to see Finnish service system as a part of international system and is able to bring this up in different assignments. In acquisition of information, the student demonstrates the ability to criticize. In seminars and assignments, s/he is able to present his/her information in a clearly structured manner (5-4).
The student has the basic knowledge of the Finnish rehabilitation service system, its legislation and distribution of work. S/he has formed an opinion about the significance of entrepreneurship in rehabilitation work. The student is able to apply widely the information s/he has acquired in different learning assignments and s/he is able to present it in a clearly structured manner (3-2).
The student does not master the basic information of the Finnish rehabilitation service system, its legislation or distribution of work. S/he is not capable of independent information acquisition or of applying the information in learning assignments (0).
